What a beautiful, empowering story about sisters, so similar yet so different in their wants in life, growing and learning together. It highlights the struggles, stereotypes, and standards women in their time were held to. It shows women how they can be deserving of love and care of a man, while not having it impede on their own personal aspirations. It was touching, and I loved the fact that Jo’s love was her liberty and writing, rather than that of…

One of the most underrated movies in my opinion that I feel like should be talked about a lot more. I love all of Jake Gyllenhaal’s work, and he really proves how diverse and broad he can set his sights within the acting world. Billy Hope is such a complex character, and he portrays all of his quirks and ticks amazingly. The actress that plays his daughter also provides an amazing performance. Those who haven’t seen, this is a must watch.

This film keeps you on the edge of your seat the entire time. Very engaging, thought provoking, and entertaining. The film is riddled with metaphors and symbolism that is hard to catch on the first watch, but after reflection it gives so much meaning to the entire movie. Jake Gyllenhaal gives an amazing performance in one/both roles that he plays. It feels like there is a whole cast performing with him, but his performance is just captivating. It gets 4 stars because it can be hard to follow on the first watch, but it’s still a must watch on my list.

Was meaning to watch this movie for the longest time because I kept hearing about it. When I finally got around to it, oh my goodness did it live up to the hype. Didn’t realize A24 produced it as well. The film does an amazing job portraying the scatter brained nature and constant hustle that Adam Sandler’s character is cursed with. The film stresses you out on another level, as it shows the rabbit hole that gambling and obsession can…
