Before Midnight 2013
I don’t know if I’ve ever seen a trilogy that works so well together. The director does a great job of making it so that you can’t root for one person or another. They both have their faults. They both have their valid reasons. They’re both wrong and right.
Also the way that Jesse handles it at the end is so beautiful. I love how they both know each other so well that they can anticipate certain actions. It’s tragic yet real and beautiful.

Before Sunset 2004
This was the best in the trilogy for sure. Two souls meant to be together but split apart by the happenstance of life yet manage to find a way to come back together. The way the dialogue is used in these movies is incredible. The director does a great job of helping you understand perspectives of life and love. The juxtaposition of personality traits is an interesting, complimentary dynamic.

Dances with Wolves 1990
I watched the 4 hour extended cut and it was such a lovely portrayal. It really encapsulated the feeling of being accepted into a group that’s not your own and immersing yourself in its culture. I feel like it’s a great depiction of what freedom of choice and free will look like.
It’s also is a sad visualization of all the horror that occurred during colonization.
