  I can’t stop watching this film. A melancholic, chaotic-tinged retelling of Homer’s Odyssey by way of a vengeance-fueled Civil War veteran incognito as a Mexican farmer. Giuliano Gemma, a God in the realms of Italian cinema, in a heart-wrenching performance as Ringo as he hops from one trauma to the next. A violent despair plagues Ringo, as does a tomb-like, repetitious Morricone score. Spaghetti stalwarts Nieves Navarro, George Martin, and Fernando Sancho hold the ship steady.   Obscure rural Vermont folk horror film. Ploddingly paced appropriately. Backwoods tarot, evil farmers, hooded demons at a glacial pace. Shadowy, autumnal psychedelia. It’s very relaxing, the film does a great job of easing the viewer into its murky terror leading to an intense two final scenes. Then, it ends. Stale dialogue resulted in a one star reduction penalty. A fine film.
