The Martian 2015
The Martian may be a feel-good fantasy but it manages to leave an impression.
It's about the crew-member left behind, and presumed dead, after the crew of an American base on Mars is forced to make an emergency departure. But he is alive, of course, otherwise there wouldn't be a movie. The drama is whether a stranded astronaut can find a way to communicate his plight to those on Earth and survive while he awaits rescue.
Matt Damon keeps watching and the rest of the cast do their part. The special effects are quite good as you would expect from a Ridley Scott movie.
