Mad I got this spoiled to me.
The concept was better than the execution, I saw something that could have been stellar start to finish, and instead it's a brisk little sci fi thriller that's occasionally funny.
There's wit to the proceedings but not anything that made me go WOW. For Drew Hancocks debut into the wider industry, it's admirable. I suppose I wish it lived up to that great initial teaser was all.
I've seen so many harsh reviews for this thus far, and I gotta be honest I don't get the criticism here.
The characters worked well for me, if anything the issue was too much exposition to set up the Monster and not enough time with our Wolf Men to leave an impression. There's so many ambitious ideas but not enough time for then to leave a bigger impact.

It's shot nice. The sharpest looking, most modern film thus far. No amatuerish editing or over-saturated lighting. That's good. A few traps are creative, though not all.

This film is known by two other titles: Saw VII and The Final Chapter. But here's why niether is a fair description:
Saw VII implies this is a regular sequel to what comes before. It's not. The characters that carried over from other films are unrecognizable, even John Kramer. Jill is a damsel in distress, Hoffman is just a killing monster now, and a certain Doctor has changed his form entirely.
The Final Chapter suggests this is THE ultimate finale…
