Absolutely wackadoodle styling on Blake, who plays an aspiring florist named Lily Blossom Bloom of all things. Using rom com tropes to tell a DV story could have been subversive with a defter touch, but it mostly just makes for a bummer watch from start to finish. Ultimately my biggest issue is the film’s innate conservatism. Lily’s solution for extracting herself from Ryle (not a real name) was painted as a moment of cycle-breaking catharsis, but for me it was illogical, if not offensive.
