  Watched the extended edition.

  Not accurate to the Illiad but I don't care. The film did say it was "inspired" by the Illiad so 🤷‍♀️

  Whether Achilles and Patroclus were lovers or close friends has been a dispute since the classical period so let people interpret this how they want, it's not homophobic to think they were friends. And while I love The Song of Achilles and think either interpretation is valid, if you're solely focused on them being lovers because Achilles goes on a rampage, then you undermine the strong love found in platonic relationships.

  This is my first rewatch since it's initial release, and I also just recently read The Hobbit. I can't remember if I enjoyed them the first time, but reading the book really ruins the films. However given the circumstances Peter Jackson was under, he did an incredible job. The first movie was the best, Martin Freeman plays Bilbo perfectly, and it contains the best scene in the trilogy - the riddle scene with Gollum. My biggest gripe is that Bilbo…
