  A delicious satire concerning those who create, and those who consume. The movie seemed to work better as a satire than as a thriller, which is not really a criticism as it’s left me with more to ponder than I would have expected.

  Avatar: The Way of Water 2022

  Powdered James Cameron blockbuster, just add water. A visual and technological marvel, this film blends CGI and real actors/environments so well that at points it feels like it’s just showing off. The plot is serviceable enough, even though many elements are ripped straight from the first movie and rehashed. At 3 hours at 10 minutes it’s impressive that it doesn’t feel nearly as long as it is, it’s very well paced.

  This movie is dumb as hell and contains characters as dumb as itself, like a Russian doll of stupid. Surprisingly more Bruce Willis than expected, more screen time than most of his last few films allowed him. Unfortunately his performance is very obviously hampered by his illness and many of his scenes raise a red flag on his health simply from how disconnected he seems from the material (and literally from other actors in many cases).

  I must add that I found this movie to be highly watchable in spite of, or maybe because of, it’s nonsensical plot.

  The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special 2022

  A fun and heartwarming little excursion into the holidays for the MCU. I was tickled throughout the whole thing. Definitely rings of the many many holiday specials that have been published in comic book pages and makes me hopeful for a further trove of holiday specials from Marvel going forward.
