I’ll use anything to plug Paddington 2, so if you enjoyed Hugh Grant’s villainous turn in this you owe it to yourself to watch him go toe-to-toe with the little bear in the blue coat. One of the most delightful performances ever put on film.
Oh, and yeah this movie falls apart in the back half but I had a solid time. The acting and cinematography do what they can to keep it from flying completely off the rails, although…
This fucking ruled. Extremely efficient, clever, and FUN(NY). Everyone operating at the top of their game. David Koepp is a legend.
Sidenote, remember when Soderbergh said he was going to retire and then he immediately directed (and shot and edited) 20 episodes of The Knick and then hasn’t stopped cranking out movies since? RULES!

Would’ve been nice if they actually wrote a character for Adria Arjona to play. Cannot believe how terrible this was, through and through. The kind of brain-dead male fantasy I naively thought we’d all moved on from making. The positive reviews are making me feel unmoored in time and space.
And this is a minor offense in a movie full of much worse, but they really thought they had something with the “all pie is good pie” line, huh?

An incredibly moving, singular work of art. I’ve truly never seen anything like it. Certain shots deserve to go down as all-time classics. I could write something long and rambling but I don’t feel like I have the words to do it justice.
