I like great films and I cannot lie
Can’t stop thinking about The Substance
I watched this only to complete seeing all best picture nominees before Oscar night. I was expecting 3 and a half hours of self indulgent (I mean .. an intermission?!) boring, men doing things, smug, filmness (no I didn’t like Oppenheimer).
I was wrong.
Beautifully shot, well drawn characters, a story with the obsession and urgency of There Will Be Blood, the family dynamics of a Tennessee Williams play. At the heart of it is László Tóth, a Holocaust survivor…
Most annoying child character award goes toooooooo! I couldn’t wait until it ended
This is just a really good film, I loved it. It’s funny (most laughs I’ve heard in a cinema for ages), dry, has great characters, performances, writing and was just one of those rare experiences I can forget I’m watching a film and I’m just in it.
Go see.
