  The Great Outdoors 1988

  Meh.  The only reason this gets a like is because of John Candy, and even he isn't overly hilarious in this. Dan Aykroyd also did a good job playing a rich snob, but it wasn't enough to save this movie, and some of his dialogue was very hard to follow.  For a "vacation from hell" comedy, it really doesn't do a whole lot with that, only a few laugh out loud scenes overall.  The final bear sequence was alright but yeah, not something I care to watch again.

  Any movie with a setting like this I'll like, man I wish I grew up in this time, fuck.  This is one of the first movies I've seen where there isn't one main storyline, but several subplots, and they all work and wrap up nicely.  But obviously Sean Penn steals the show here, I'm convinced he was actually high during this lmao, fantastic job, and I found Damone funny as well.  Also Jennifer Jason Leigh and Phoebe Cates.  Enough said.
