Disappointing.
The original film worked by focusing on strong character development and building trustworthy allies, making us truly invest in Maximus’ quest for revenge after the murder of his family.
This movie felt like it was trying too hard to pack in plot twists and blood blood and more blood. The deaths were unnecessary, rushed, and hollow. on top of that, the overuse of CGI—the gorilla dogs and sharks—drained the entire production value.
What it really needed was just the original soundtrack…
