I liked a comment I read, but now I can’t find it. It was something like: “A dumb movie trying to be a smart movie”. True shit.
I understand the political undertones and the satire toward the current government. I also recognize that it’s a new and fun direction for the director, in contrast to Parasite (a masterpiece). However, I didn’t like it enough, and also my companion fell asleep while watching it.
Even at the very "heart of faith," humanity is riddled with contradictions.
Ralph Fiennes' performance is outstanding, and I was mesmerized every time he appeared on screen (which, by the way, is throughout the entire movie🤣). The rest of the cast is just as impressive, with performances that are A+.
On top of that, the cinematography is some of the best we've seen in 2024.
If you think a movie about the process of electing a Pope…
Very good sequel for the story they managed to connect and the undoubtedly improvement in the choreography of the action scenes, as well as, of course, the exquisite performances of Denzel, Mescal and the twin emperors, a round of applause for them. However (by watching both movies on the same day), I can't deny that I felt a much stronger connection with the story of Maximus (Russell Crowe), whose pain for losing his family transmitted to us throughout the film making us feel every battle as ours, something that with Lucius (Mescal) I could not feel.
