Howl's Moving Castle 2004
I can see why people love this film. So much of modern anime over explains how their world works. A villain might dive into a two minute explanation of their powers or intentions, complete with flashbacks in the middle of a fight. Howl’s leaves so much up to interpretation and to the imagination, yet manages to draw you further into its magical world the whole time. A surprisingly dark and compassionate story.
