Clayton Manley Pro

I like to watch a movie, and the reason is because a movie is fun for me to watch. Thank you.

    Fantastic Planet

I have recently watched a couple of animated science fiction films about large blue aliens. The first is obviously Fantastic Planet. The other, coming in at 3x the runtime, is Avatar 2. The places in which Fantastic Planet succeeds are the same places that I offer criticism for Avatar. While both strive to offer an allegory of humanity's place in the broader universe, Avatar falls flat, perhaps due in part to its approach to worldbuilding.

    The Addams Family

I live my life according to two simple rules:
    • Be silly
    • Be evil
Between charmingly bad effects, inventive set design, and Christopher Lloyd reaching Jim Carrey levels of facial expression, The Addams Family follows these guidelines to a T.

    Clueless

Went into this pretty blind after hearing Amy Heckerling's interview on NPR. It's impressively witty and genuine. Parts are extremely dated but it also just has a thick 90's charm to it. It's hard to not make a comparison to Mean Girls, and to be honest, I think I liked this more.

This is all about how each new generation of climbers challenges authority and surpasses their predecessors. The rock itself doesn't change, but our understanding of what's possible on it is continually evolving. Once the barrier of disbelief if broken, the sky is the literal limit.

Rewatching this after forgetting everything about the first time that I watched it except for a note that I left for myself saying I need to rewatch it
