Black Panther 2018
Astonishing set and costume design and a perfectly serviceable, occasionally very funny script are let down by Marvel Studios trademark inclusion of 40% too much fighting and the utterly baffling inclusion of Martin Freeman as a CIA agent. I was tempted to dock a further half star for having Kendrick Lamar take care of putting together the soundtrack and then barely featuring any of it. Acknowledgement here that I'm just writing about the degree to which I liked watching it and not rating its importance, what it says about the USA, etc. because I'm incredibly unqualified to do that, having never mentally escaped the West Midlands.
