  Not anywhere near as bad as people would have you believe but obviously nowhere near as good as the original mean girls. If I could rename it I’d call it:

  more movies nowadays should care less about things and be more fun and care free. Give themselves over to the audience to have fun and not worry so much about the finer details.

  Edgar Wright's much anticipated latest movie departs from his usual comedy work. His previous work on Baby Driver laid the groundwork for this taut thriller. Here he's back writing the screenplay as well as directing, but whereas when writing comedy, his dialogue is cleverly written with sentences that can be poured for callbacks; here, due to the theme and mood of the movie, the dialogue is slower-paced and more traditional.

  Its up there with the most uncomfortable visual experiences I've ever witnessed.
  If it weren't for the constant foreboding orchestral score you'd be forgiven that this was a lighthearted dark comedy for the first 45 minutes.
  After the first half of the movie the awkwardness you've felt trails away, bringing to the surface the gnawing feeling that the score was warning you about as the truths are revealed.
  Even then you're drastically unprepared for what lies ahead as the movie…
