Breathless 1960
Gorgeous cinematography and almost charming in its cynicism, "Breathless" would have been a full 4 stars if Godard could have avoided that particularly French brand of misogyny masquerading as pessimistic "realism" for five goddamn minutes.

Sadly this went off the rails in the last 30 minutes and really collapsed the story that had (very slowly) been set up in the first hour or so. Bette Davis is a powerhouse who almost makes the frustrations of this film worth it and there are definitely some iconic lines:
"What do you intend to do with your life?"
"I intend to get a cat and a parrot and live alone in single blessedness."
