My Roman empire is the fact that canonically after this film ends Legolas builds a seaworthy ship with his bare hands alone and then invites Gimli to join him on his voyage to valinor, where they can grow old and die together. Dwarfs are forbidden to enter Valinor, but Legolas and Gimili's friendship is far more real and stronger then these eccentric elvish laws, making Gimli the first and last dwarf to enter these lands. Miners' Strike: A Frontline Story 2024
It's a shame it took the BBC this long to redeem themselves and produce a form of media that doesn't depict miners and strikers as work-shy scum. A really illuminating insight into the lengths these working class people went just to keep their communities together. Also I didn't think it was possible but I hate Margaret Thatcher even more after watching this, phenomenal.
