The first act was really promising. The atmosphere was tense, and while it all felt a little too sterile, the imagery was intriguing and evocative. As it progresses, however, I started realizing it wasn't really going to lead up to anything interesting. I think it was trying to say something about motherhood, memories, the nuclear family, religion, and generational trauma, but it kept stumbling on its words and ultimately said nothing at all.

You know when you watch a horror movie and you see characters do stupid things, so you scream at your TV?
"Don't open that door! Don't hide under the bed! Don't look through that keyhole!" etc.
And then you scoff and turn to your friend and say, "ugh, I would never do that," and you go on a little rant about how stupid the characters are?
This is that movie, where every character does every dumb thing you can imagine, with the exception of the audience surrogate main character who does everything right and still gets fucked over in the end. It's great.
At my ripe old age I seldom learn anything and grow as a person from movies anymore, but this one really did something for me.
