  The Diving Bell and the Butterfly 2007

  I’m glad that unlike other films about communication disorders or degenerative diseases, this one doesn’t feel like torture porn, unlike “Wit” or “Still Alice”. Instead, this feels wholly honest and not appearing like it’s searching for awards. I really appreciated that about this film. I also think the unique POV, in the first half in particular, was an extremely strong framing device, but I feel that the film lost a bit of its luster as it started to move away from that more and more.

  TL;DR: A perfectly safe and serviceable sequel that at the very least doesn’t feel soulless. 

  It was okay, but nothing compared to the original (that I only fully watched for the first time yesterday). The songs weren’t as good, the animation wasn’t as good, the story wasn’t as good, and there were no emotional beats to speak of… but I had fun!
