Mulholland Drive 2001
Haven’t watched in over a decade at least. Watching it now vs late teens/early 20s was a vastly different experience — invigorating and mesmerizing in a whole new way. Hard to describe the feeling of seeing it in a newly empty theater in the early afternoon, being engulfed in darkness experiencing Lynch’s descent into the dreamy and nightmarish Los Angeles for 2+ hours, only to then emerge back into the light of day: like the breaking of a fever dream. Total masterpiece.

Actors 2021
Been wanting to see this for awhile. Then after all the “Nazi/fascist mumblecore” heat, I couldn’t wait any longer. Sorry, but I just don’t see that at all. A total overreaction. I still maintain that Betsey Brown has an energy that is totally unique and infectious. Unabashedly personal. There’s something very exciting about it. And I like flicks that blur the line between doc and fiction.
Sure, it’s a movie that can make you feel uncomfortable. No one comes out…
