  a narrative of the unfortunate impact of societal norms and taboo on female behaviour, and what joyful outcomes are achieved when they are removed, albeit intermittently. though dealing with serious and sometimes gruesome subject matter, poor things still managed to lighthearted and very funny. emma stone’s depiction of a woman with i guess a lower mental age had the potential to be uncomfortable/ offensive but she of course played bella perfectly with just the correct amount of audience discomfort (perpetuated…

  wasn’t sure how i felt about this film after i watched it - was it just unnecessary, brutally, heartbreaking? but i can’t stop thinking about it. the fact that it is so open to interpretation makes it linger and generates conversation with whoever else you’ve forced to watch it. plus the chemistry between andrew scott and paul pescal makes the relationship feel so real, whether it is or not (without giving spoilers). will be rewatching once i’ve emotionally recovered.

  such a sexy film ! i loved the point of view type filming. whilst tomás’ back and forth between martin and agathe was in danger of feeling repetitive, it only just emphasised how pathetic he was. he’d clearly been traumatised but that’s no excuse for his despicable behaviour
