This movie is probably one of the biggest achievements in filmmaking history.
Seeing it in IMAX for the 10 year anniversary, I was blown away. The third act is phenomenal. The music revolutionary and will go down as one of if not the best soundtrack ever composed. The direction and visual effects are insane to the point where I cannot even figure out how I would begin to breakdown such a huge and impactful movie.
An annoyingly fun disappointment.
I don't much like the third installment but at least its plot had a personal connection for Po. This film's story has more of a connection to Awkwafina's character. However, they forgot to make me care for/like the character of Zhen -- instead ripping off key character moments from the previous movies to try to make me give a damn about her (it didn't work).
As for the villain, Viola Davis - such a great actress…
This might be the easiest to understand foreign movie I’ve ever consumed.
If I had to describe it, it felt like I was watching the tech rehearsal of an entire movie - where the camera crew was doing 100% but the actors weren’t acting and the script was not complete yet it had the barebones of a good story so it still kind of worked.
I really appreciated the film’s angle and characters but there was just some very strange…
