Mirror 1975
Holy shit. This film is a bit like reading virginia woolf or james joyce. Or a calmer and somehow far understandable than early lynch. The film takes place in three different time periods, a couple major characters are played by the same actress, and the main protagonist is rarely seen and only heard in the last time period; the film also switches back and forth constantly from color, black and white, and sepia through its entirety. All that being said make for a visual poetry of a film that follows the life of a man and his surroundings through different stages of its life.

Don't Look Now 1973
It's a really compelling grief story. Ultimately if you look every scene, all of it goes back to their joint efforts to cope. Photography is great, editing refreshing and the performances are definitely there, with both of the sisters being amazingly creepy throughout. The direction comes alive with all the aforementioned aspects of the film but also the art direction and costumes are heavily stylized conveying in every frame suspicion and disturbance. The music is an amazing force in the film constantly reminding you that something is about to happen.
