What an absolute behemoth, undoubtedly one I’m not smart enough to talk at length about but also undoubtedly one of the very greatest films I have ever seen. One thing I will say though is I love how much hope this film displayed in the working class. A common theme of Kurosawa’s of course, but the ability of these farmers to find solidarity and rise up against their oppressors (with the help of a few class traitors no doubt) demonstrates Kurosawa’s faith that class solidarity can be reached. So hell yeah to that
