Historical accuracy was never the objective! If you can put that aside (which I readily will), it’s a gorgeous film. Cobbling together history, loose interpretation, complete fiction, and The Cure, this film shows the tragically endearing reign of the teenage girl, Marie Antoinette.
If you could bottle girlhood, add powdered wigs and gild it in gold, then you’ve got this movie. It’s sweet, it’s quaint, it’s fun! Don’t be a cynic and give it a chance!
