Undeniably an instant classic, it just does so much so right. Mainly two issues for me:
• It’s difficult for me to keep the timeline in my head even on a rewatch. I wish there were fewer jumps and the onscreen titles were more descriptive, but to some degree it feels like the movie is expecting you to not keep it straight; for me, the ending lost some potency after remembering that Art had already seen Tashi cheat on him…

Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory 1971
I watched this movie many times as a kid and it wasn’t until today that I really watched it as an adult and I don’t think I’ve ever loved it this much. It’s truly touching and made me cry at multiple points. It’s genuinely funny, like when Wonkamania breaks out and it’s basically a bunch of sketches with interspersed emotional moments and it somehow works. This is also one of the all-time great casts of child actors and every song is perfect. All this before you even catch a glimpse of Gene Wilder.
