This was an adequate movie. I didn’t actually dislike it (I expected to hate it). There are a number of issues with the film, from bad acting to cheesy dialog, to horrendous music and sound design choices. That being said it had redeeming properties as well. Les Misérables 1998
Solid film, made in similar vein to many of the exceptional period piece movies made in the 90’s such as a Rob Roy, Kidnapped, etc. I have never read the source book but i have seen the 2012 musical adaptation though, and as such, comparisons are inevitable.
