  The book was better. Maybe this was on purpose given the theme ....
  Disappointing given the cast, the focus on dark atmospheric pauses in the dialogue didn't really give them a chance to show off their talent. Also, the bird thing at the end, which wasn't in the book, was pointless. It seemed to be trying to solve a problem that had alreay been dealt with quite well in the original plot.
