on some level it was a mistake going into this with no prior reading or knowledge of what I would be watching. I had pretty much no idea what was happening. can’t really score that, you know. on the other hand, who needs narrative?
visually STUNNING. simply outrageous set pieces. will rewatch on my own sometime.
Don’t Look Up with significantly better acting across the board … and also not outright bad. Top five below:
1. Mickey 18 after doing drugs
2. Steven Yeun’s suit and glasses
3. Every baby creeper
4. Toni Collette
5. Translator device science lady
Honorable mention: Robert Pattinson’s voice and physical acting during the dinner scene. Also video glasses guy.
wayyy more blood in this one. tommy lee jones rules. javier bardem rules. josh brolin doing this fresh off trading stocks RULES. there is absolutely no music in this movie and you just have to sit and watch the violence.
watched as part ii of the There Will Be Blood double feature.
not sure I can say anything new about this one. like PTA woke up one day and decided to make The Great American Film. looking back it’s more of a departure from what came before than I remembered, and while it feels large and expansive it’s really one of his smallest.
watched back to back with No Country for Old Men.
