    Salem's Lot

The best thing I can say about this film is that it is serviceable. Beyond that, it was unnecessary and completely forgettable.

I appreciate that the look for Barlow in this film is "Hollywood"-era Marilyn Manson. I just hate that his jaw and mouth are CGI'd at times. The CGI effects are sloppy, so Barlow's look does not have the menace that it should, if they had just used a prosthetic mouth.

It is cinematic magic. Every single actor here is perfectly cast, and they play off of one another so well.…

Horror is my favorite genre of fiction. Slashers are one of my favorite subgenres of horror. That said, as much as I enjoy a good slasher film, most are disposable entertainment that I quickly forget soon after watching them probably because most slashers are fairly formulaic.

The one exception is John Carpenter's Halloween. If you ask me what a perfect slasher would look like, it is this film. Though Halloween is not the first slasher movie, it is the one…
