David Lynch knows how to craft quite the interesting thriller from minute one. Beautifully shot and blocked throughout as we get acquainted in the small town of Lumberton, North Carolina and unravel this mystery along with Kyle MacLachlan’s Jeffrey that gets more sinister the lore the rabbit hole he goes down. Has a sight detour in pacing after the first hour, but it picks right back up and the climactic third act makes the everything wrap up so perfectly. Great acting all around along with Lynch’s superb direction helps quite a bit as well to make for an amazing thriller.

Eraserhead 1977
A visual horror masterclass going into the psyche of Henry and the struggles he goes through all around him with is job, girlfriend, and being a new father. Lots of great designs of the baby, and other people we meet like the radiator lady and electrical man that makes this nightmare brought into reality about how much it sucks to be an adult.

Fallen Angels 1995
Visually and aesthetically pleasing watch with some amazing scenery and musical choices. The story was a bit muddy for me to follow, but I know a rewatch or two will clear that up a bit. Real good vibe movie though that helped keep me engaged with the interlinking storylines.

The Passion of Joan of Arc 1928
This is what I look for in religious movies where it goes into the humanistic side of Joan’s mindset and how her unselfishness impacts the community around her. Shots that get you close to everything almost like you’re on the jury during the trial and in the town as Joan is being set up for execution. Every scene also just felt so real as they tried to make the most accurate representation of the entire event and a super engaging silent film that I need to get more into as I need up my film tastes and knowledge of film history at the same time.

Challengers 2024
This was absolutely incredible and honestly might be Guadagnino’s best, but it’s super close.
All the leads are at the top of their game here (no pun intended) with Zendaya delivering a top notch performance here that I would say is the best of her career. The amount of energy and grit that she gives off here is something that I haven’t seen from her at all and Guadagnino’s direction here elevated her game and kicks ass in her lead…

Starship Troopers 1997
The satirical elements blend in with the surface level look perfectly and make for a great break down of both fascist ideology and military propaganda/military industrial complex. It’s also just a fun overall watch that flows by with not boring downtime and solid special effects for most of the runtime.
