From the director of Happy Feet comes the tame and boring Mad Max film - Beyond Thunderdome
Great production design and practical effects similar to the previous instalments but the action is minimal and unexciting which is brutal and major flaw given that is what makes Mad Max an amazing franchise. The story is incoherent despite its good opening and after its main fight, it becomes a chore to get through.
This feels more Alien than the previous two installments. Good direction and good cinematography with really good performances from the young cast. The horror returns to the Alien franchise.
A masterclass on how to make an action CGI monster film with a $15 million budget look better than a $200 million Hollywood film.
This film does seriously reveal the important things that Hollywood left behind: good storytelling, sustainable budgets, the cinema experience, no on-the-nose politics and the value of entertaining audiences.
