Objectively a good film; but I hate body horror. So overall nightmarish!
That being said I really liked the commentary about how yearning for objective youth deprives you of your life and subjective youth in the present. And of course how that pressure is particularly immense for women.
The final scene of what people become in the search for eternal youth was disgusting yet poignant?

It’s Barbie…and it’s great. This movie lived up to expectations and I think met people where the majority is when it comes to critiques of the society we live in and the very real pressure the patriarchy places on all of us - not just women. My main critiques of the movie is that I would love to have seen it go further to a grander solution or thesis.

The story of what is lost when we leave felt universal, a tale of immigration that was larger than a single story. The concept of soulmates still respected the beauty of what lies on the path we are on while mourning the pasts we’ve lost.
