Midsommar 2019
Great movie. Supremely fucked up. I’m glad I decided to watch it during the day. It reminded me of The Wizard of Oz, the original when it starts out in black and white and then turns to color all of a sudden. Similar thing happened in Midsommar with really dark lighting and a bland palate before all the craziness kicks in. Cool movie. Fucked up. Did I say that already?

I remember liking these a lot as a kid. Coming back is nostalgic, but the movie actually holds up pretty well too. It’s simple, innocent, silly, and wholesome. Good to watch if you feel vulnerable. Anne Hathaway is a killer actress. The rest of the cast is great too.
Weirdly, 2001 was a crazy year for art and film. The Strokes released Is This It, Daft Punk released Discovery, Gorillaz Gorillaz, and so on, and so on. Shrek, Harry Potter…

Just rewatched after a long time… This movie is the archetype for so many that come after it. The way the story slowly unfolds to build anticipation has been done many times before, but Excalibur does it in its own way.
Amazing set design and costumes— you can tell that thousands of hours went into making it look just right.
