So, here’s the thing.
I understand this is a great movie.
My eyes tell me this is a great movie.
In my opinion, this is a great movie.
I can never watch this again. Every scene had me reeling in awkward agony and wanting to skin myself alive. I would have welcomed God himself coming down and casting me to the deepest pits of hell in order to escape my cringe.
Agony.
I’m glad I watched this on a phone screen at work. It didn’t deserve either my personal time nor any better screen.
Long story short: it’s boring. You know exactly where the plot’s gonna go about 20 minutes in, so instead you look at the acting aaaaaaaaannnnd our lead is paralyzed for the majority of it, so it’s mostly Mr crazy serial killer lying his way through everything. Which is alright, but again predictable and not particularly entertaining. The movie’s…
This film feels like a flex in every regard. At the beginning I was sucked in by how fantastic the filmmaking was, not just for the time but even by today’s standards, and by thirty minutes in I couldn’t tear my eyes away from the characters. Every shot, every line of dialogue reveals more about these men and their relationships, how their lives have influenced their view on the case. I don’t think another movie has had me audibly react to what the characters are saying.
Watch. This. Movie.
It’s fun. More than can be said about most licensed movies.
