  "Soul" asks some pretty big questions, and even though it ultimately comes up with rather predictable answers, the movie delivers them through such beautiful and evocative imagery it's hard not to, at the very least, give them a sincere thought after the credits roll.

  A cute, serviceable story, elevated by a great ending and told in a pretty fun setting. Maybe not the best Pixar movie all things considered, but still a worthwile watch.

  A mediocre love triangle story that kind of wastes the creative potential of its cultural setting with sloppy pacing and predictable plot. Still, "The Book of Life" has something to say, looks great and offers memorable characters voiced by talented actors. Overall, it was a fairly enjoyable watch.

  A trippy, rushed and convoluted adaptation that doesn't do justice to its remarkable source material. Well, at least when it comes to coherent storytelling. The movie's impressive, surreal art direction and noticeably aged yet still charming visual effects are what making it an ultimately worthwile watch.
