this film had loads of homoerotic undertones, an aspect which is sort-of-sadly-but-sort-of-deservedly the most appreciable of the entirety of it. while it's doubtful that guy ritchie consciously wrote the male leads with a focus on misinterpreted gay attraction, the reoccurring moments of sexual tension between illya and napoleon are a surprising byproduct of the explicit conflict between the two characters, mirroring the complicated relationship concerning illya and napoleon's respective countries.Translated from by -
