All the scenes of men comically pouring into frame like frantic cartoon characters had me giggling throughout the whole movie. My husband kept calling the main nine men "the seven dwarves".

Strike 1925
This was Eisenstein's debut film? What the hell?! This is 100 years old this year. I'm amazed once again by how Russian silent films feel so modern. There were so many times when I forgot to pay attention to what was happening because I was so distracted by the visuals and striking imagery. Once again, I'm amazed by Eisenstein's ability to turn an entire group of people into a full character, relying not on one person's motivations, but on symbolism and imagery instead. Can't say I've seen another director achieve anything like it.

About Time 2013
Wow..... an average of 4.0 stars from over 1.3 million people. I... am truly perplexed. It's a miracle I made it through this whole movie. I had no choice but to hate-watch the second half once I realized he was never going to learn that what he was doing was wrong, and instead be encouraged for his actions. How do other romance films get called out for their misogyny and manipulation tactics but this one goes unscathed? This is one…

Friday the 13th 1980
I didn't care about a single character in this movie and while that can be a good thing for a slasher flick, these characters didn't even have a story. They were just there to be brutally killed which made this so boring. Halfway through, I was so ready for it to be over. It seemed like nothing happened throughout the entire movie up until maybe the last 15 minutes. Also, they killed an actual snake on set while the snake's handler wept behind the scenes. Can't help but feel disgusted for how the snake and handler were treated. It undoubtedly affects my rating.
