  so symbolically rich !! i love eggers’ style for his masterful use of darkness on scene, dedication to detail in folklore and for writing his female  characters real complexity - a breath of fresh air from the typical victim/sex object paradigm in horror

  very jumpy storytelling and extremely cliché; major plot fault that the fetuses (who are supposed to be seeking revenge) only target the would be mothers and not Dr Lee, the literal catalyst to all the abortions

  The first story was good; the third was atrocious and to me, proves Lanthimos is a hack whose only strength lies in persuading people who think ‘shocking’ equals creative and film buffs who are more interested in proving they ‘got’ a film than anything else into thinking he’s a genius. The fable thread is weak, the center narrative unremarkable and there are already a million overzealous male directors who think sexual violence and female nudity an be used as a plot device. 

  Lanthimos is nothing special and neither is this film.
