Watched this as apart of my film club. This film is adapted from the novel by Ghassan Kanafani, a famous outspoken Palestinian author. This was created 10 years after his death and released in 1982 through the PLO.
It’s glaringly shocking to see how long these problems have existed, and how they continue to get only worse. The movie personified a lot of the stories I hear and read about.
As for the film itself, I found it a little bit…
I really wanna like this more but the movie was so slow at times/ badly paced , so much so that it became distracting of some of the really bright elements of film
Ultimately a super likable film , and I get why it’s getting praise. Good movie for international women’s day
I wanted to like this a lot more. The first hour was predictable and ordinary, but Brightbills birth scene really made me think about the day I will become a father so that landed. The part that bothered me the most was the first hour felt like the entire movie. It was a slow drag and really didn’t go anywhere. I completely thought that was the entire movie- overall, the pacing was super odd
dreamworks did its thing in the second half but still lacked that spark. Couldn’t connect to it more. Fox was only compelling character and the animation wasn’t that appealing to me
