They’re going to get mad and call me a woke liberal for this but I’m going to say it: genuinely think this movie is problematic as fuck. It’d be one thing if it was funny but the satire is bad!! “Can’t you just have fun” no I can’t!!! This shit just frustrated the fuck out of me bc there’s concepts of a good movie in there and none of it was used except in the most basic barebones way. 👎👎👎

Vampire movies have hitherto only adhered to one side or the other of a great divide: sexy or disgusting? Eggers brings us back to the source with sexy AND disgusting.

I got a few questions about some of the choices made and I think I prefer the Witch and the Lighthouse overall, but still very strong. Lowkey like a 4 but rounding up out of love. The full frontal nudity was underwhelming (!!!), but the full shot of Nosferatu/Orlok slurping…

You do NOT want to fuck with Nic Cage’s pig, but I’m kinda glad someone did because it blessed us with beautiful bromance between an annoying but emotionally damaged Portland yuppie and a master chef hobo truffle seller.

More seriously, I was totally blindsided by the movie. Went in expecting pork John Wick, and actually got roped into a touching portrait of loss and loneliness. Solid.
