Solid kids’ movie, but I’m not sure I agree with the choice to leave the father character without redemption. Ending the film with him still estranged from Petey—and even doubling down on his abuse—felt unresolved and unnecessarily harsh.

Still, entertaining, mostly wholesome, fast paced, and beautifully animated.

I didn’t have any clue how this film was going to end, and I relished that feeling all the way throughout act 3. 

Beautiful movie. Bittersweet. Made us really feel.

Interesting premise. Good character work. Great execution on a low budget. Plot was flimsy and could have easily been fleshed out with another 8-10 minutes of runtime. Last few scenes felt rushed.
