His House 2020
This film nailed pretty much all of what it did. The horror was on point every time and relentless with its pace. Until the final half an hour, every scene felt like it could end in a horrible way.
The message of this film was the driving force behind it and the horror wasn’t out of place at all, feeding into the very real story.
I think the ending was interesting, leaving just enough open to question the real-life implications…Translated from by

Candyman 1992
Despite some goofy imagery from the titular villain, the themes and main ideas of this film were pretty strong. The looping urban myth cursing those who believe it is a really interesting concept. It’s a shame all the mysticism was taken away as soon as we saw the Candyman and he was just a normal man, almost a bond henchman.

For a fair chunk of this film I was lost due to the editing and sheer quantity of flashbacks. However, whilst being lost, I found myself enjoying most of what I was seeing. It took a bit longer than it should have but I eventually figured out the plot and all the characters were fully introduced. Unfortunately, it was almost the end of the film but the end delivered on the sort of group dynamic and action that is expected…
