A great movie in nearly every way; I only have two main gripes with it.
1. Amleth doesn’t change
He goes from murdering random innocent people because he’s mad his dad died to murdering a bunch of innocent people, a couple people who deserve it, and a few who you can argue do/don’t deserve it.
2. It’s hard to root for Amleth
The movie wants the audience to root for this guy, which is hard when you see him killing…
Some people are absolutely going to love this movie, but it’s not really for me. I’m not a woman, I didn’t grow up in the 90’s, I’m not Asian, and I don’t have overbearing parents; all of which are parts of the story that will have greater impact on others. I hate when people generalize the term millennial and attribute negativity to the generation, but this movie leans a little too far into stereotypically “millennial” dialogue at times. I would still recommend anyone who is interested in it to watch it.
