The energy in this film could bring someone back from the dead. So alive, so real. Being on a theatre production - but on lots and lots of cocaine.
The most important takeaway from this experience, to me, was coincidentally the reason I also fell in love with working in the performing arts. There is a place for everyone in show business.
Actors, writers, directors, lights, sound, costumes, hair and makeup, set construction, design, electricians, crafts, camera, editors, hell, even…
Only got this high of a score because I literally had my jaw open for about 8 minutes straight during one of the scenes. Mouth agape, I’m telling you.
But the rest of the film was sorta campy and just an overdone horror trope. Slightly disappointed, but a decent film experience with the lights off.

I watched a Dwarf called Bombur take down 15 Orcs rolling in a barrel, and proceed to explode his arms and legs out of the barrel to continue fighting before pencil diving back into another floating barrel. Almost got 5 stars right off the bat for that sequence alone.
Lost half a star for the Wilhelm scream when Thrain, father of Thorin, is vacuumed up by the Eye of Sauron.
Originally thought I was disliking the writing and the tone of one of the characters- until I realized that’s the whole point. Some of the most true-to-life character work I’ve seen in a while now. Small moments carry heavy weight.
