  At first I was completely outraged and disgusted, but after the concluding producers’ note and reading that the crew were also shocked, I realised how effectively the film sheds light on and protests against such cruelty. 

  However, with Gary and Joe physically fighting the kangaroos, pulling their tails and subsequently slitting their throats (I don’t know if this was genuine), isn’t this still animal abuse? Irrespective of whether the kangaroos were sedated or not, I feel as if it’s somewhat hypocritical. 

  Regardless, the film depicts the dark brutality, misogyny and violence that can be present in the outback. A very complex film.
