  I have seen this 10,000 times. Effortlessly watchable, with about six or seven Youtubable monologues. Play the Tucci bridge monologue at my funeral.

  I adore the fact that Steven Soderbergh just does what he's gonna do, even if it's a multi-part, mega-intricate, genre-aware things-go-wrong-athon involving accents so thick your interpretation is 50/50 at best, and a giant cast of great actors, and he gives the audience enough credit to just kind of figure it out. And somehow, when you do, it's always worth it, and you learn something that you can't believe is true.

  A plaintive, almost elegantly simple plot, combined with Roger Deakins' cinematography and Mendes' attention to period props, makes this movie a pleasure to look at. And I can tell why a talent like Coleman was attracted to this character. She's given lots of space to take her where she needs to go. But the film feels strangely shoehorned by its Serious Business, and unfolds agonizingly slowly. Somehow tries to do too much thematically and not enough in terms of action and plot. Too bad.
