The Substance 2024
The Substance is a tantalising body horror masterpiece. Specially If you like any Cronenberg films, also reminds me of Titane by Julia Ducornau. It's stylish, it's gnarly, and I think it delivers it's message really well, the gore fest is earned. Highly recommended.

With this trend of slow burn and metaphorical horror films, I thought this movie was about grief at first, and It is to an extent but the action of looking for a deeper meaning distracted me from the truly interesting part of this film; a peek into cosmic horror using folklore. Unfortunately it kinda falls apart on the third act, I don't think the audience gets a payoff for a long and tedious build up. The movie has great moments of tension but it feels like it's missing the climax.
